V715W Problems

Every since I was given this printer, I've experience problems that I've seen shared by numerous other users on this and other forums. One, this printer will not print in wireless mode after a time of inactivity, and I have to reboot my computer to reconnect with the printer.  Second, the black ink cartridge runs out ink prematurely, after streaking and intermittent printing.  I have to perform several deep cleanings to restore printing.  If the printer isnt' used for a week or two, the black ink runs low.  Clearly, this printer is not performing to Dell's strict standards.  I have owned Dell laptops and computers for nearly 20 years.

What are users doing besides swapping out completely?

Life Coach,

I have replaced the printhead once, Replacement Printhead

I use Dell Series 24 ink cartridges, high capacity. They usually last almost a year with school printing from the children.

I use these Recommended Wireless Router Settings I use channel 11 and would make a new SSID to make connecting easier.

I make sure the printer is allowed past my virus program and firewall.

I use Eco-Mode on the printer with 2 sided printing.

I use these tweaks and have no problems with printing from any of the computers in my home.

Start, control panel, device manager.

Go to the USB Controller section and click the + sign.

Go to each USB Root Hub and right click on it, left click properties, left click power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.

Restart your computer.

Start, control panel, device manager. Click on Network and then right click on your wireless adapter, left click properties, power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.
