Important: If your system is still under warranty, we recommend contacting technical support by clicking on Get Help Now in the bottom-right corner of this page. Please have your service tag ready. You'll first interact with a virtual assistant, but you can request to speak with a live agent at any time.

Hi saeed saad:
What is your Windows operating system, and what troubleshooting steps have you tried so far? Is SupportAssist v4.x installed on your computer, and if so have you tried running a hardware diagnostic from SupportAssist? Is your G15 5511 still under warranty with Dell?
If I search for "camera" on your G15 5511 support page at https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/g-series-15-5511-laptop/overview it shows that your webcam uses a generic driver provided by Microsoft, so if you uninstalled your webcam driver in Device Manager then Windows should automatically reinstall the correct driver if you shut down and restart your computer. See the Microsoft support article Camera Doesn't Work in Windows for more information.
See the Dell support article Using, Testing, Troubleshooting and Resolving Driver Issues on your Dell Webcam. Note that if you click More in the FAQ section for Windows 10 and 11 as shown below you will find additional topics like "The Webcam is Not Working Correctly" where you can also find instructions for reinstalling Microsoft's webcam driver.
Depending on your operating system, the following Windows Central articles might also have some useful information:
-----------
Dell Inspiron 15 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.4651 * Firefox v129.0.0 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.24060.7-1.1.24060.5 * Malwarebytes Premium v5.1.6.117-1.0.1280 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7783 * Dell Update for Windows Universal v5.4.0 * My Dell v2.2.6.0

Hi denzky29:
Please see Dell employee DELL-Jesse L's 09-Apr-2025 post in chandan baitha's topic camera.
If none of the troubleshooting steps I suggested <above> fix your camera I'd suggest you post in chandan baitha's topic so DELL-Jesse L knows other users are having the same problem. Be sure to include your Dell computer model, Windows operating system [if Win 10 or Win 11 open a Run dialog box (Windows key + R) and enter winver to find the version and OS build number] and BIOS version. To find your current BIOS version open a Run dialog box, enter msinfo32 to open your System Information, and look for the field named "BIOS Version / Date" in the summary.

Hello,
I own a Dell G15 laptop and I’ve been experiencing an issue with the built-in webcam. A few days ago, I noticed the webcam flash turning on for a few seconds during startup, but the camera no longer appears in Device Manager. I also tested it using Dell's official support tool, and it returned a warning for the camera.
Additionally, under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" in Device Manager, there is an "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)" — which I believe is related to the webcam.
I've tried all basic troubleshooting steps: BIOS check, driver scan, power drain, and system restarts. Nothing helped.
It seems like a hardware issue, possibly a disconnected or damaged internal camera.
The warranty appears to have expired, but I would like to know my options for repair — or if I can purchase a one-time service or extend the support coverage.
Please let me know what steps I should take next.
Thank you.

Hi Moh7medAlii:
As suggested <above>, please see Dell employee DELL-Jesse L's 09-Apr-2025 post in chandan baitha's topic camera, which includes links to the following Dell support articles:
Troubleshooting and Resolving Dell Webcam Driver Issues in Windows
Camera Does Not Work in Windows: Laptop or USB Webcams
DELL-Jesse L's post also includes instructions on How to Arrange an Out of Warranty Repair on Your Dell Computer if your service warranty as expired, but this is usually a very expensive option.
If none of the troubleshooting steps suggested in those Dell support articles helps then post back and let us know the full model of your G15 laptop (e.g., Dell G15 5535, Dell G15 5515 Ryzen Edition, etc), Windows operating system, and BIOS version. To find the version and OS build of your Windows OS open a Run dialog box (Windows key + R) and enter winver. To find your current BIOS version open a Run dialog box, enter msinfo32 to open your System Information, and look for the field named "BIOS Version / Date" in the summary.
You didn't say what "official support tool" you used, but if you haven't already done so then launch the ePSA (enhanced Pre-boot System Assessment) hardware diagnostics built in to your Dell BIOS. Run a Diagnostic Quick Test (make note of any error code) and then see if there is an Advanced Diagnostic Test listed for your webcam. See the support article How to Run Dell Preboot Diagnostics and Hardware Tests on Your Dell Computer and companion video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inYLxW2_xKo) .
I would also suggest you run the Program Compatibility Assistant built in to your Windows troubleshooters to see if it detects an issue with a webcam driver. If Core Isolation (Memory Integrity) is enabled on your system this security feature can cause all sorts of glitchy behaviour with older drivers. See Jeremy Chaloux's 31-Aug-2022 Some Logitech Webcam Drivers are preventing a part of Windows Security from working, but I don't have a webcam in the Microsoft Answers Windows 11 board for one example.
Is there any device listed under "Cameras" or "Imaging Devices" in your Device Manager? Just FYI, the integrated webcam for my Inspiron 5584 / Win 10 v22H2 laptop is listed under "Cameras" (i.e., not "Universal Serial Bus Controllers").

Hi 99Mr Money:
Do any of the suggestions in the Dell support article Resolving the We cannot find your camera, 0xA00F4244 error solve your problem?
If none of the suggested workarounds in that support article help then post back and let us know if your Dell service warranty has expired yet. It would also be helpful to know your Dell computer model, your Windows operating system [if Win 10 or Win 11 open a Run dialog box (Windows key + R) and enter winver to find the version and OS build number], antivirus, and BIOS version. To find your current BIOS version open a Run dialog box, enter msinfo32 to open your System Information, and look for the field named "BIOS Version / Date" in the summary.
Also let us know if you have a built-in (integrated) or external (usually connected via Bluetooth or a USB cable) webcam, and the device status and driver version shown in Device Manager. As I noted in my 14-May-2025 post <above>, the built-in webcam for my Inspiron 5584 is listed in Device Manager under "Cameras" (yours could be listed under "Imaging Devices" or some other category) and the "Device Status" displayed on the General tab of my webcam Properties says "This device is working properly". My Inspiron 5584 support page does not offer a custom driver for my webcam and the Driver tab of my webcam Properties shows my built-in camera uses a generic driver provided by Microsoft (see image below). ***
*** NOTE: Don't worry if you have a camera driver provided by Microsoft that is dated 21-Jun-2006 or some other odd date from 2006/2007. Microsoft often uses an older timestamp for drivers they supply, even for newer Windows versions, to ensure that any custom driver provided by the computer manufacturer is not accidentally replaced by a generic Microsoft driver with fewer features. See Ed Tittel's 11-Dec-2023 blog post 2006 Microsoft Device Driver Date for more information.

Hi @lmacri
Kindly assist. I am having this camera issue on my Dell Latitude 7310 2-in-1 running Windows 11 Pro.
I followed all Dell-recommended instructions to resolve, including uninstalling the device, privacy setting, camera app setting etc. I have Intel Chipset, 2D Imaging, Serial IO downloaded and installed. Dell Support Assist shows all drivers and softwares are fully updated, yet no solution.
