Can't install My Dell from Windows Store

Hi,

I purchased Dell 5590 last year. I recently did a reinstall of Windows removing everything. While I managed to install all Dell apps after reinstall, I am not able to install My Dell app from the Store, which helps in running diagnostics, etc.

Appreciate any tips on this.

If that matters.

This problem exists on Dell G15 5515 Ryzen Edition as well. Dell support remotely tried to install it using store and wasted my 2 hours. No solution. No one knows what is going on here.

Hello. I tried the above and was able to install my dell app. However during the start up of the app it mentions that an update must be performed. This update however is unable to succeed. It says i must check my internet connection, but internet connection is ok. Onlything i can do is than close the app. Do you have a solution so that i can update the my dell app? thanks!

Thanks so much bro, I didn't expect this to work as it seemed so simple and all the solutions I had seemed were so complicated. but this worked really easily and simply.

Ran the commands, rebooted, nothing....  Verified the registry entries, which were correct.  Luckily, I own two Dell computers, so I went onto the other one and added My Dell to my APP library.  Then I could see and install it on the other computer.

Seriously Dell, just put the installer on your website and stop sending us to Microsoft's store.

This usually happens when windows fails to recognize the machine's model number

Open CMD as admin and run these 2 commands one by one

REG ADD "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Store" /v OEMID /f /t REG_SZ /d DELL

REG ADD "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Store" /v StoreContentModifier /f /t REG_SZ /d "DELL_Inspiron"

This worked for my Dell G15 5521, I had to restart after running the command to get it to work though

This worked. I also needed to run "wsreset" to reset the store for it to work. Thanks

As for Setember, 2023 the only way I was able to install (after completing the steps) was using winget on Windows Terminal (cmd).

I found this information here (on reddit) all credits to u/Elranzer

Have you tried force-installing it with the "winget" command line?

Open the Command Prompt from the Start Menu (Run-As Administrator)

Type the following command:

winget install 9PN7T3JFPRZ6

This version of the command may also work:

winget install "My Dell"

.... Now, how did I get "9PN7T3JFPRZ6" for the "My Dell" app?

Type this command:

winget search dell

@SirionMP_d27346 :

What is your Dell computer model and Windows OS, and if you used the winget commands as instructed in that 30-Mar-2022 reddit thread <here> to force-install My Dell then what version of the My Dell v2.x UWP app was originally installed? I entered the command winget search dell today in an elevated command prompt with Administrator rights (as well as an elevated Powershell console) as instructed in that reddit post and My Dell is not listed in the output.

This thread originated in 2020, so please note that Dell is rolling out a new My Dell v3.x application to replace the My Dell v2.x UWP (Microsoft Store) app.  See my 22-Aug-2023 topic MyDell v2.x UWP App vs MyDell v3.x Full Installer and the MyDell Version 3.0 Release Notes).

The "Compatible Systems" section of the download page for the current My Dell 3.0.447.3 installer (MyDell-Application-Full-Installer_J0G9C_WIN_3.0.447.3_A00.EXE, rel. 28-Jul-2023) at https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=j0g9c has a relatively short list of Dell computer models that are currently compatible with the new My Dell v3.x application. I'm not certain, but most appear to be newer computer models that ship with a Windows 11 OS.  If your computer model is compatible with the new My Dell v3.x then a standalone .exe installer should be offered on the support page for your Dell computer model.

My Inspiron 15 5584 is not currently compatible with the new My Dell v3.x application.  If I launch the My Dell app from the program list on Start menu and click the About link it shows I am using the My Dell v2.2.6.0 UWP app, which was automatically updated by the Microsoft Store on 08-Sep-2023.

Also note that in order to run the My Dell v2.x UWP app you must install the latest Fusion Service offered on the support page for your Dell computer model. From Control Panel | Programs | Programs and Features of my Inspiron 5584, which shows I currently have Fusion Service v2.2.14.0 (rel. 20-Feb-2023):

---------------
Dell Inspiron 15 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3348 * Firefox v117.0.1 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23080.2006-1.1.23080.2005 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.2.281-1.0.2131 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * Dell Update for Windows Universal v5.0.0 * My Dell v2.2.6.0
