New Rack Server

Hello,

We have a PowerEdge R520 Server and now it's about time, that we upgrade. As i wasn't here when it was bought and installed, I don't know the exact specifications. Is there a way, I can compare the Specifications from the PowerEdge R520 with the new ones, so I can imagine, which one to buy to upgrade the R520? I can't find any details on the R520.

Also, is there like a successor of the R520?

Thanks in advance,

Best regards,

Andre

If you go to dell.com/support and enter the STAG of your R520 and clicking on Product specs on the middle rigtht you will see the specs how the server left the factory 10 years ago.

Your R5"2"0 is a 12Gen Server and every 3-3.5 years dell comes with a new Server Gen based on new Intel CPU. Within every Gen you have 2 Intel CPUs versions. So after 12Gen there was the R530,R540,R550 but no R560 and yes we are right now in the 16Gen Server period. But that might have something todo with COV19 and that there might be not much place between R4x0 and R6x0.

There is marketing stuff which compares the old gen vs. new gen but not 12Y old against current.

Regards,
Joerg
