PowerEdge R730 – Lifecycle Controller locked, UEFI DXE driver errors, BIOS update failures
Hello Dell Support,
I am experiencing a critical issue with a Dell PowerEdge R730. The server is stuck in the Lifecycle Controller and cannot boot the OS or access F10/F11 menus. These are the symptoms:
1. Errors shown on the local console
“Lifecycle Controller: System configuration requested”
“UEFI0116: One or more boot drivers have reported an unhealthy status”
“Avago EFI SAS Driver unhealthy status reported by this UEFI driver without specific error”
“UEFI: cpuArchDxe.efi / devicePathDxe.efi crash occurred; stack trace not available”
“System BIOS has halted”
The server is stuck during POST and does not proceed beyond the Lifecycle Controller screen.
Sometimes an additional message appears:
“UEFI0047: One or more keys on the keyboard are stuck” (no keys are stuck)
2. iDRAC alert messages
The Job Queue shows repeated BIOS update failures:
RED023: Lifecycle Controller in use. This job will start when Lifecycle Controller is available.
RED007: Unable to verify Update Package signature.
RED006: Unable to download Update Package.
JCP009: Scheduled job was cancelled.
Multiple BIOS updates failed at 0%.

Thank you for your guidance.
I followed the procedure to clear the NVRAM as you described:
Powered down the system and drained the flea power.
Moved the NVRAM_CLR jumper to clear the NVRAM, then restored it to its original position.
Waited a few minutes before powering the system back on.
However, after restarting, the boot process does not complete. The system now gets stuck on the iDRAC initialization screen and does not proceed any further.
For reference:
BIOS version: 2.3.4
iDRAC firmware version: 2.41.40.40
Please advise on the next steps to recover or reinitialize the iDRAC so that the system can complete the boot sequence.
Best regards,

Nedxus,
To start I would recommend that you shut down the server to clear the NVRam. What you will need to do is the following:
Power down and remove the power cables
Hold down the power button for 20 seconds (this drains the flea power)
Open the cover of the server
On the motherboard locate the NVRAM_CLR jumper, as shown below

Once located then move the jumper over, then reinstall the power cables and power up to clear the NVRam.
Once that is completed the power back down, remove cables, hold power button, and then restore the jumper to its original location.
After that is done the insert the power cables, but do NOT power the server for a couple of minutes, as this will allow the idrac to power up and initialize.
After waiting power up and see if the issue is resolved or continues.
Also, what revision is the BIOS and iDrac currently at, or is the server up to date?
Lastly, do not attempt to run any further updates until we get the Lifecycle controller unlocked.
Let me know what you see, or if this helps.
