Hello, I'm writting with an idea to use TB16 docking station with 7740. Will it work if I connect a 240W power supply directly to laptop and lower wattage power supply to dock?

May anyone has installed WD black sn850p ssd drve to dell 7740, i need to be sure before buying that it will fit in the bay due to its big heatsink, and thankfuly share its speed benchmark, is it worth the high price? Many thanks in advance
