EmailXtender Shortcuts not opening on Exchange 2003
Hi,
I have been tasked with creating shortcuts for attachments older than 60 days. I can not open shortcut attachments from OWA. This is a frontend/backend environment.
Any suggestions?

this is not an error message but just some instruction.
I would guess you try to open an attachment from the Outlook preview-pane. This will not work. You first need to "restore" the entrie message to Outlook (double click the message itself). Thereby, the message is restored to Outlook and you'll be able to open the attachment aswell.
So, this is not a bug, but a feature!

Jochen.

As Jochen mentioned if you are trying to open the message from preview pane and seeing this error it is expected and working as designed.
BUT if you are getting the same error after opening the message, then you might want to make sure that exchange servers has OWA support installed properly.
If OWA support is installed, you are still unable to resolve shortcuts then you can speak to a support engineer and he/she shoule be able to point out exactly what is going on.

some user have this message when they are going to open a attachment. They have open e-mail previously.
Message:
"This attachment is now a shortcut and requires that you open the message first before opening the attachment."
The size of attachment is 173 B. This problem is random in the same user.
Moreover, if I try to open that message from the EMAILXTENDER account, I have not problem and the user yes.
There is not any problem with DiskXtender.
EmailXtender Server: 4.81.1147
EmailXtender Search in the clients: 4.81.1043
Outlook 2003 SP2
What is the problem?
Regards.

You might want to start a new thread with the problem you mentioned.
If it would be me then I first thing I will check is service account having "Send As" and "Recieve As" permission on exchange.
Secondly check if user is member of local admin group of the machine where he is opening messages. In locked down environment users get deny over few reg keys that EX uses. If users do not have modify permission on registry they might see the issue.
Are yo using Exchange 2007 or 2003 ?
Thanks,
Rajan
