Drive E
Dimension 8250,GCE 8400B -Drive E
Windows XP SP2
Hi my E drive has got the can't help it's,I have removed drivers,controller,re-installed etc,check tabs,set tabs,set to automatic,threatened with shot gun,When I try and copy files,folder to CD ,Wizard starts ,then states put disc in Drive E ,that's all she wrote can't get past this step,will not recognize CD ,Drive starts but then quits.Did it die dead?If so do you have a suggestion for a good replacement.

I thought firmware was Windows XP? I tried driver add-on Br55342.exe no luck,thanks for suggestion ,any other help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Allen,
BR55342.exe is the firmware update, these are not the same as drivers. Considering all that you done, click on the CD/RW link in my post and scroll to Section 12, article 3 and run these Dell tests. If it fails, then do as Dell-Stephen suggests, contact Dell to discuss a replacement if under warranty.
