Problem burning with cdrw drive
Hi,
After using Roxio's ECDC for 2 yrs,I have been experiencing some new problems burning cds . During the middle of a burn using ECDC Basic 5.1_E3c, I get the message that "there is no cd in the cd recorder and ecdc will attempt to write the table of contents" or I get the message that there is not cd rw device on the computer. It will occasionally write a cd, sometimes the disc plays, others have skips or errors on the disc. I get the same inconsistent results whether I record files from my drive or from several different original music cds that have previously burned OK. So, it is not a problem with the files or disks that I am trying to burn.
A look in event viewer shows these errors and warnings that occur at time of burning
Warning Event ID 51 Source :Cd Rom
An error was detected on device \Device\CdRom0 during a paging operation
Error Event ID 7 Source: cd rom
The device, \Device\CdRom0, has a bad block
Error Event ID 9 source: atapi
The device, \Device\Ide\IdePort1, did not respond within the timeout period.
The only changes that I have made to the system have been moving some files around. Device Manager does not show any flagged problems. I defragged the drive, tried burning at lower speeds, disabled NAV and still am having trouble…
I am not sure what else I should do.
Is this a hardware or software problem?
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. TIA

Hi Miss_K,
Over time a file or two in the software may become corrupt / overwritten, have you tried uninstalling Roxio`s software? Re-install it, then update to version 5.3.5x.
I have information on this at the CD/RW site, clickon the CD/RW link in my post and scroll to Section 45 & 47 and review these Roxio articles.
Best Regards

Hi,
I just successfully burned a cd using MusicMatch. I then played it back with WMP. It played fine until it stopped it the middle of one track. The disk was in the cdrw drive. WMP flagged it red. I then put the same disk in my other dvd drive, it played the same track without problems. I placed the disk back into the cdrw drive and no problems!
Strange? Does this mean anything? Should I still attempt to unistall/reinstall the Roxio software?
Thank you Jeff, for your quick reply. BTW. I like the quote in your sig.
Any thoughts appreciated.

Hi Miss_K,
Open WMP, I believe it is under Tools-Options, turn on Error Correction and see if this helps.
Best Wishes
