SM Bus Controller driver

Hey all!  I have a XPS420 and I've got the yellow exclamation point next to "SM Bus Controller" in my device manager.  I downloaded the chipset driver and installed it but the exclamation is still there.  Do I need a different driver?  ANY help would be much appreciated!

egn63, you are right. The problem was with the driver for the card reader.

Practically, I used other driver (since I have vostro 3460 and not xps-420) but this hint was just what I needd -

Thanks for your help.

Chipset: SM Bus Controller Driver

http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/Product/inspiron-15r-5520?driverId=2D89J&osCode=W764&fileId=2989745820

USB driver: Realtek Card reader Driver:

http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/Product/inspiron-15r-5520?driverId=WWGKW&osCode=W764&fileId=2974601226

Install the Chipset driver and restart the computer. Then install the USB Driver (Realtek Card reader driver).

This must work. Right click on the EXE file that is downloaded, and choose Run as Administrator.

Hi Persia000123,

Please provide the model of your Dell.

November 10th, 2012 05:00

@arkows: Provide the model number of your computer and the operating system XP, Vista or 7, x86 / x64

@persia000123: Provide the model number of your computer and the operating system XP, Vista or 7, x86 / x64

downloadcenter.intel.com/confirm.aspx*

Both arkows and Persia000123 click on this link and download the chipset drivers from Intel. This would find the type of chipset drive you need and install it automatically.
