Travelstar 7K60 firmware update to version MH4OA69A

Thanks somms.... has anyone tried it yet... I am unsure, it will work the same for Dell systems as IBM right, because its firmware? And does anyone know what the update does? Thanks

NEVER, NEVER do a firmwear update to a HDD unless you're prepared to have a paper weight for your desk. I have tried many, only a few were successful. This one there is no clue as to what it's for. IBM may have a issue with their systems and are trying to cut costs by offering it and taking care of the problems.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.  Mine was to flash the firmware of my Toshiba MK4019GAX up to a newer version.  No, it didn't turn the HD into a paperweight.  Toshiba as I imagine the rest of the manufacturer's have included checksums into their firmware flashes to prevent flashing on the wrong model type.  IBM wasn't responsible for developing non-IBM firmware coding, they have only consolidated all available firmware flashes into one convenient package.  I don't own the 7K60 so I can't comment on if this drive can accept the firmware flash.  Like all firmware flashing utilities, use your common sense in order to avoid failed flashes.

Has anyone tried this firmware update yet? I am interested to know if it worked.
