Best practice on hyper device size.
I've got a Storage Request of 500GB for an existing ESX servers from Symmetrix DMX Array.
Our standard hyper device size is 17GB, i have prepared 2 META devices which consists of 16 numbers of 17GB (17GB *16=272GB)
Now the MS Admin complains that he wanted a one single Device/ LUN with 500GB in size. In that case i have to prepare a single META device with 32 hypers. With my little knowledge, i don't think it's a best practice.
The existing devices are not presented with the stadandard hyper size.

32 member meta isn't too outrageous. 255 member meta is probably too big, but supported. You don't want the members to wrap back around to the same physical disk however.

32 meta count is fine, we create them that count size all the time and sometimes go bigger, as quincy mentioned just look out for wrap around on your disk, you do not want to have any performance degradation later on.
