Dell Venue Pro Windows phone 7.8 update

It is said that Microsoft is planning to release the update early march 2013.

Once Microsoft officially launches the release date we will let you know.

BTW Its not a matter of Dell DVP being out of production... ALL WP7 phones are out of production.. its that DELL itself is out of the phone business for 1 and they didnt even make the DVP everything including the engineering was outsourced to I believe BenQ ( Qisda Corporation ). So the question is WHO still supports this phones OS : MS, Dell or BenQ ?

Early 2013 is the best info we have from MS.

To quote; "we’re working closely with our hardware and carrier partners to get it tested, approved, and rolled out to as many devices as possible in early 2013"

If I were a betting man, I WOULD bet the DVP gets the update. Many said there was no way it would get Tango or even Mango.. and it did. Although obscure, apparently the DVP isnt as hard an upgrade as the Samsung.. so they MAYBE referring to the Samsung when they put the caveat "as many devices as possible" or simply hedging their bets.

as of my knowledge nokia is pushing Windows phone 7.8 update to its existing windows phone 7.5 devices..... such as nokia lumia 510 , 710..

then what about DELL VENUE PRO???

I am also wondering when the DVP will be getting 7.8 since nokia has started their roll out of 7.8.

But there has been no information about the DVP.

also with the release of 7.8 would we get the compass that was taken away back?

It is a shame to see such a great phone have features it initially had stripped away.

Looks like the update for 7.8 is live for the DVP

I just plugged my phone into the computer and it automatically started an update to 7.10.8779.8, then to 7.10.8783.12 then to 7.10.8858.136.

The first update is a marketplace email sync update second is for phones without a camera button and the third update is 7.8

I did not have to do a force update, and the phone did not notify me about the update prior to plugging in the phone.

Im updating my unlocked dell venue pro (t-mobile) from tango to something new at this very moment. hopefully its windows 7.8:emotion-2:

Mine was bought unlocked, must be EU lagging behind USA as per usual....I forced the update anyway

It is windows phone 7.8. yes!

I forgot to mention that I have a unlocked device that I bought from dell directly. Maybe the update is only available to the unlocked version of DVP. My gf has the HTC Titan II on ATT and there was no update for her.
