Intermittent WIFI connection?

If you are experiencing intermittent WIFI connection on the Venue 11 Pro 5130 or 7130, we need your help.   The problem I am attempting to gather more information on is that the WIFI driver won't always reconnect to a known router after a sleep cycle.   If you toggle the wireless radio off and back on, it will then connect as expected.   In addition, you can probably manually reconnect to the router or AP.

If you are experiencing this problem, please provide the following details so that we can get this fixed once and for all.  The newer versions of the driver were expected to fully resolve this, but I'm hearing of some issues with specific routers still.

Here is what I need:

System model and processor (core or Vpro for the 7130)
Router make and model
Router firmware version (if known)
Security setting (if known)  (e.g. WPA)

Thanks!

Problem reported on:

Asus RT-N12B1
Proxim AP-700 v4.0.1

Next time you lose Wi-Fi after a Windows update, try going to Change PC Settings - Network - Airplane mode.   Under Wireless devices, turn Wi-Fi off, then on again.  I'm just curious if that would fix it, because, as I stated in another post, after I did my last Windows update, I lost all connections.  I uninstalled the update, and it was worked again but then I tried the update once more, and Wi-Fi worked, but only showed my network.  Turning Wi-Fi off and on again brought in the missing nearby networks.  So I'm wondering if toggling Wi-Fi off/on would fix it.

After wasting too many hours on this, I returned the piece of junk.  Dell didn't refund the cost of the keyboard and I don't have the four to twelve hours it would take on the phone to get the refund, so I'm just giving up and taking a loss.  I'm in the process of buying a couple of new computers and won't buy Dell.  Too bad, because they have been my preferred hardware vendor for over a decade.  Dell now has low qualify hardware and poor support / customer service.

Sorry to hear that.  Do think of eBay for the keyboard, to try to recoup the majority of its cost--my guess is, others would be happy to buy.

on mine it didn't.  I needed to uninstall an update and reboot.

I've had my 7130 i5 since June, but it just started having this issue. My router is an ASUS RT-AC66U.

I've noticed that if I manage to connect to the internet after this happens, connecting the mobile keyboard will sometimes cause it to lose connection again. Is it possible that the WIFI issues are somehow related to the keyboard?

On mine it's usually happens when I'm downloading bigger files on it or watching video on high definition where the wifi card will crash

so far best fix that does work is to hit the restart option on windows 8 and let it restart which everytime has brought the wifi back though obviously not the best option as you have to stop what your doing and restart the tablet. you can also connect a usb wifi card in as well for things like this again not the most favorable option but since we've continued to see no support from Dell on this issue it's the best thing to do if you need to download bigger files

Hi Brian

Over a year after this post it appears that the Dell Venue 11 Pro 7130 vPro i5-4300Y @1.6Ghz still has wireless issues.

I have the latest BIOS A16.

Latest wireless driver from intel site and running windows 10.

Every time I restart, I need to go into the wireless settings and re-connect.

can you please send me a fix?

Regards

Lance
