Streak Froyo OTA Update for O2 Customers

Hi Folks,

I was recently informed that the O2 OTA update for Froyo would be available starting today. I had a customer looking for it, but no luck as of a few hours ago. So I provided him with a manual link for O2 customers. The link appears to be working, if you don't want to wait for the OTA update. Here you go: http://cot.ag/fKoFRX

If you are an O2 Streak customer, please post here with any feedback on the Froyo update (include whether you used the link above or whether you got the OTA update automatically).

Hello,

I saw your post and I also have a Rogers Streak. I'm stuck on 1.6 and have been unsuccessful in all of my attempts to root and upgrade. I've followed the instructions at xda-developers, android at MoDaCo, QDLTool and StreakSmart to name just a few - all have failed. I'm now attempting a factory reset and it also appears to be failing. Any suggestions you have would be appreciated.

I updated OTA this afternoon from 1.6. After I push ,,update now’’  and...

 Now I am getting an error message which I can't get rid off:

,, Android system recovery utility – GAUSB1A110421

To perform an emergency software recovery, you will need to insert a microSD card containing an update file. (/sdcard/update.pkg)

To download an update file, and further instructions, visit http://support.dell.com

Press the Volume Down button to power off. “

 

How can this be fixed?

Tried this linkl but its not working on my STREAK got my phone in Hong Kong its version 2.1 still havent recieve my update yet. can anyone please help me how to upgrade it to froyo 2.2. im already getting frustrated with my device it seems like its a bad move to bu a dell streak.

Thanks Aronasti. I was in o2 store last night and they did it for me. Huuurrraaa!!! I have 2.2 android on my streak. I just download my backup, and all is ok.:emotion-2:

Amy,

Received new Streak from O2 on 30 Dec - Froyo upgrade initiated immediately on start up.  Loved the phone for about 12 hours until it started to freeze.  Tried different combinations of app removal, background updating deactivation, removed email accounts, facebook etc.

Reduced the frequency of freezes, but still happens when powering up out of sleep mode/screen lock - especially when trying to answer phone call and can't move the slider to answer!!

Only 'quick' solution is to power off the unit and power up again (though with touch screen freeze this can take time tapping away like a mad man!).

Will give it another week to see if you/O2 can fix it, then it's going back to O2.  Shame as it's such a great tablet/phone, but since the mother-in-law died last week I can't afford to miss any more important calls.

thankyou for this link to the 2.2 update i used it a couple of weeks ago to update my streak which was running on a modified 2.1 software. Since doing the update my streak is now amazing apart from not being able to sync my contacts and calender via pc suite but as i use gmail this was soon sorted when logging into gmail to check my emails.

The only issue that i experienced and had to do some searching for a remedy for was the fact that the screen did not auto rotate apart from turning it upside down this was finally sorted with some trepadation by following the link in another post on here and going into fastloader settings then following the steps carefully and waving my hand at the front camera then shine a light on it then hay presto the streak is now absolutly amazing does everything that my laptop does and is so much more portable.

Would be nice if a pc sync software could be made available from dell themselves rather than having to rely on gmail as i have used the pc sync software with all my previous smartphones as with pc sync i can atleast save notes aswell as contacts and calender info. plus if we put something in the calender or contacts on the computer it will put them on the phone when synced

Hi,

I've managed to upgrade OTA but like a previous poster I now am unable to configure my pop3 email account (talktalk)- I can get so far but then it can't open connection to the outgoing server, and I can't  get any further. Had no problems with this on the previous OS - would be grateful for any suggestions, thank you.  

 

Otherwise the screen is doing odd things going upside down but that seems to be a common problem!

Hi Amy,

I have Dell streak, originally att locked phone that I purchased from another person and transferred the warranty, he had updated it to 2.1 and all worked well, but I dreamed of being able to use swype and when you gave us the link I downloaded and installed 2.2 from O2 and other than the same issues others are having all works except I have lost sound from the earpiece, I can hear a click as if it is trying but cannot hear voice on calls unless using speakerphone or a bluetooth headset.

research shows that when this happens it is not a software issue but hardware, Do you think I will be able to get a warranty exchange ?

How should I proceed ?

Hi All

 

I've been working with my Dell streak since before Christmas now, with some success but a reliability issue means I will now be taking it back to Tesco for a Refund.

The touchscreen froze for the fourth time today, its happened before, and twice it froze when the phone was ringing causing the calls to go unanswered as the 'answer call' logo would not respond.

Today it froze completely on the password page and I could do nothing with it, even switching it off was impossible as pushing the power button brings up a menu which of course the touchscreen would not allow me to select.

All I could do in all cases was to crash the phone down by removing the battery, and thats just a joke when someone is trying to call you on a witheld number.

I'm freelance so missing a call means the job goes to another operator, so I cannot risk my income with this unreliable phone.

Sorry dell, the phone when its working well has been very impressive ....

Ive put up with having to spend days messing around with updates, Ive put up with having a return key in the email keyboard but not in text messaging (ludicrously frustrating) and Ive put up with colleagues laughing at the size of my phone.

But the usual Dell reliability issues have finally killed it for me...... This is why I stopped buying Dell Laptops, none made it through their warranty periods and all failed again expensively as soon as the warranties were over.

Dell, please feel free to contact me to discuss, if there is no fix for this crashing issue the phone will be coming back at you via Tesco's on Monday.

Hi Amy, and thanks for all your effort trying to help us.

I downloaded the update, and tried to installed, but I am getting a message that says something like: "FATA model name mismatch", any idea why and what should I do?.

Hi Amy or anyone that can help please!

I have a Streak bought in the UK on O2 and have downloaded the 2.2 update (both via notification and via manual link). The software has downloaded ok but will no install. The Dell tel helpline cannot sort it out and seems unable to understand the problem.

2.2 is downloaded but when I try to install it, , the device freezes on the Dell logo ( I have even left it overnight with same result).

I have tried factory reset.

I am still on 1.6.  Have been desparately trying to upgrade to 2.2..  is the OTA available now?  BTW, who is a O2 Strak customer?  I bought the device directly from Dell and using ATT (only available) as the carrier..  so Am I an O2 customer?  if so will the above link work for me?

It only works for O2 customers, like me I bought my Streak from my local O2 shop here in  the UK. I upgraded to 2.2 without any problems.

I don't know what the arrangements are for Streaks bought directly from Dell. You could try contacting Dell support.

I HAVE BECOME VERY UNHAPPY WITH DELL AND ATT AND THE HANDLING OF THE UPDATE FOR THE DELL STREAK. YOU SHOULD HAVE NEVER LEFT IT UP TO ATT TO HANDLE THE UPDATE. IT LOOKS LIKE WE WILL NEVER RECIEVE THE UPDATE ALWAYS DELAYS IN THE ORDERS. WHEN I ORDERED IT YOU WILL HAVE IT UPDATE IN NOV. NOW FEB 4 20011 STILL NO UPDATE. HAVING TROUBLE WITH ANSWER CALLS ON SCREEN WONT UNLOCK. CALL TECH SUPPORT WILL BE BETTER WITH UPDATE THAT IS BEGIN SENT OUT NOW. HAHA NO UPDATE. STILL WAITING I HOPE THAT THE STREAK 7 IS GIVEN MUCH BETTER CARE THEN THE CUSTOMER WHO HAVE BOUGHT THE STREAK 5 FROM YOU. MAYBE YOU COULD GET THE UPDATE OUT TO THE ATT CUSTOMERS WE. PAID FOR IT WHEN WHE BROUGHT IT WITHOUT A CONTRACT FOR 500.00 DOLLARS THANK YOU.
