Vostro 3667/3668, HDD replacement without losing data
Hello,
I audited a desktop Vostro 3668 of a friend of mine, he was complaining applications would take a long time to launch; I indeed confirmed that visually and by looking at the performance tools provided by Windows ( the disk usage was stuck at 100% most of the time).
While I was able to reduce the load by removing some useless applications launched automatically, I did not find a root cause, so the problem is still present. I decided to replace the disk with a SSD which would be more faster than trying to investigate this problem any further.
Do you have any suggestion for upgrade kit, I came across this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CFXT6FZ does someone know if it good or is there other?
I would like for the upgrade to be able to copy the whole disk content (OS + data) as identical on the new one for few reasons:
- The PC has specific applications (accounting, ...) that I don't know if my friend has all necessary information to reinstall it the same way
- I would like to avoid the end-user effect, that would oblige to provide support for any thing that is different between the two installations and would disturb the person who use the PC.
- This is faster
I'm not at all a Windows + its eco-system expert I work only with Linux.
The PC is not more under warranty.
Thanks for your help.
