RC-1 will be released to us poor folks within a few days, around the 12th of Sept.  That last release was not to the General public. 

I like Vista. Puting all the changes together makes it a nice improvement over XP, but, yes, there is nothing earth shattering about it--especially not for the price of Ultimate. But, if one can get an upgrade price or a faculty/student price on Ultimate, then that's a different matter.

I think the price I saw for Ultimate was around $400.  But you are right, there is nothing earth shattering about it, yet.

Amazon is taking pre-orders for the Ultimate Upgrade for $259.

lt would be a cold day in you know where before I let someone hold that kind of money for 6 months.  There are more cost effective way to get these products and I do mean legit.

RC1 is widely available now from MS. Just get out and about.

Don't knock until you've tried it.

The public codes won't be available for a couple of weeks, but you can get a jump on the download if you wish. RC1 will be good until June 1, 2007.

If you were involved in the June Customer Preview Program, you can use the key from that for RC1.

Have any of you been able to get RC1 to clean install on a XPS600 yet? I was able to load Beta 2 and build 5536 Pre RC1 no problem but RC1 is not being cooperative at all with me.
