Screen E153FP, A locked lock & an unlocked lock keep appearing-PLEASE HELP!!!!
I am brand new to the forum and admit I am almost computer illiterate. I have a menu screen-E153FP that keeps popping up, along with a blue screen that shows a white locked lock and then an unlocked lock. Computer is out of warranty. Is there a way to correct this? Does anyone please have an idea of what might be wrong? This is driving me crazy. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!

If you don’t have monitor manual then use the above link provided by GioAguilar
Scroll down to Accessing the Menu System, note item 4 about OSD
Then scroll down further until you see in the icon column the OSD Lock
Is the icon padlock associated with OSD Lock the one that appears on your monitor?

After much searching on the net and reading all forums on this issue i have figured out a fix!! Finally! All you need are 2 small flat head screw drivers, a phillips screw driver and a little will. (Note, if you have this problem the will shouldn't be a problem!!). First disconnect your E153FP from the computer by removing monitor cable and power cord from the back of the monitor. (DO NOT leave power cord pluged in!!). Remove the monitor stand from the back of the monitor for easier access. Flip the monitor upside down and note the 4 small channels on the underside of the case. Carefully using the flat head screw drivers rotate and pry the front case cover (bezel) from the back of the case. This will take some finesse and probably brute force. Try not to break anything or damage the case since you will have to live with your efforts. Once the 2 halves of the case are appart, you will see the back of the screen exposed. The buttons for power etc are on the bottom left looking down. Follow the cable from the button circut board to the right side of the monitor shield. Simpley remove the cable and put everything back together!! Voila, no more problem. You will have to leave your screen on all the time but just adjust your power settings in your OS. Good Luck!

Steel5683,
Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
It is never a good idea to get a screw driver and take apart your monitor. You could very well have been eleotrocuted. This is also not the solution to unlock your monitor. For future reference when posting on the forum it is best to make a new post instead of reply to a post that is this old. We also have a Monitor forum board as well.
If you have a PADLOCK on your screen.
'OSD Lock': Controls user access to adjustments. When 'Yes' (+) is selected, no user adjustments are allowed. All buttons are locked except the menu button.
All buttons can be locked or unlocked when the 'Menu' button is pushed and held for over 15 seconds.
Note: When the OSD is locked, pressing the 'Menu' button will take the user directly to the 'OSD settings' menu, with 'OSD Lock' preselected on entry. Select 'No'(-) to unlock and allow user access to all applicable settings.
