Xenith: close a program, it doesn't close

Xenith: close a program, it doesn't close

Using Wyse Xenith clients with firmware 1.5x, when a user "X's out (closes) an application, the application disappears but the session stays open. A Microsoft blue background screen is shown. The menu bar shows the program still open, but it is nowhere on the screen (not minimized or hidden).

Is there a way to make sure that when a user clicks on X to close the application (in this case, Excel 2007), it closes/exits the properly?

Any suggestions?

Are you doing published applications (i.e XenApp)? Thats the only thing that makes sense to me. If yes, unfortunately in the published app scenario the local client has no idea when you click the "X" since its wrapped around a session wrapper which may or may not stay open (its the server that decides when to close).

Xenith is designed for desktop scenarios only (i.e Virtual Desktops in XenDesktop or Published Desktops in XenApp) and hence if you need published application support (especially seamless app support) then ThinOS is your best bet. Good news is that they are based on the same Wyse Zero engine and HDX client but ThinOS has much more flexibility in that it supports a "Classic" mode that is good for seamless apps.

Hangulo,

Thanks for your reply. That is a shame to hear, as it was explained to us by a consultant that this was one of the advantages of the Xenith device - the ability to open either the application or desktop through our published app/desktop environment.
