XPS 8700, Intel management engine interface

XPS-8700 circa September, 2013

Newbie here.  I know that this issue has been raised here a number of times and I've checked the many posts not only here but also at Microsoft for help with my problem.

Tried a number of the suggestions.

  • Uninstall driver
  • Rinstall driver
  • Upgraded Bios from A13 to A14
  • Used the Dell components installer to update driver.

Yet I'm still geting the yellow exclamation mark on the device in device manager.

Bit of a background - my hard drive bit the dust a couple of weeks ago.  I replaced it with a Samsung SSD drive.  Since I had no idea of how to reinstall Windows 10 - I first reinstalled the Windows 8.1 that came with the computer and then continued to upgrade to Windows 10, Home.  I have been trying to fix this problem for almost a week and its driving me crazy.  Any fresh insight or help is really appreciated!

Install (reinstall) the Intel Chipset drivers, restart the PC and then if you still have the error, reinstall the Intel management engine interface.

One of the things the chipset drivers do is identify all the devices on the motherboard, and the chipset drivers must be installed for many devices to work or work properly.

The Dell chipset listing is an old 2015 version.  Suggest you go to Intel, download the Intel scan program that automatically finds drivers and software and then update whatever it lists.  If the chipset drivers are not listed, manually download and reinstall them.

Hi - Thanks to both of you f for responding to my query.  I tried all that was suggested.  In many cases I had more recent drivers installed than what the links were going to provide.  Nasty exclamation mark remails in my device manager.

I do notice that when I uninstall the intel management engine interface drive and then do a scan for hardware changes the device comes up without an error - but within minutes goes back to being a problem.

Hello!

Wow, this solution seemed to be the trick (so far).  Although the software installed an older driver initially - I was able to update the driver and the device still worked without error.

Thanks so much for your help!

PCI VEN 8086 DEV 8C3A is

Intel(R) Management Engine Interface, Intel(R) 8 Series/C220

Likely you have driver conflicts or worse rootkit malware.

INTEL RST 17  and malware detection is also recommended.

Systems running driver version 15.9.x, 16.0.x, 16.5.x, or 16.7.x should update to the latest version.
