XPS 8930, Upload Speed Dropping

Hi All,

I'm at a loss as to what I can do to fix this, last time it happened it was a simple fix by getting a new ethernet cable. However now that did not work.

My Specs are as follows

i7-9700

RTX 2060

16GB Ram

Killer E2400 Ethernet

Now for the problem - I have gigabit internet, and my download speeds would hover around 800-900Mbps, while my upload would sit around 500. Now they the upload is dropping to around 100...but the 100 isn't a "stable 100" as trying to stream at a 6000 Bitrate on twitch yields me dropping frames constantly, so I'm stuck on 3500. Now the last time this happened I bought a new cable and all was back to normal. I also got my brother to run a test on his PC, with his results being 800 down 400 up. So that rules out the network being the issue.

I've tried - IP release/renewal

                 Disabling Large Send Offload

                 Uninstalling Re-Installing Drivers

                 Full Network Reset

Is there anything I can do or is this an issue with the card itself? Like I said, its only my upload thats affected and it doesn't seem like its actually a full 100, when trying to upload/stream I can barely above a 3500 bitrate without it causing frame drops on OBS.

@speedstepSo i went through and did all these commands, my upload increased up to 170, which is better! But the question I have now is, is this something that just randomly enabled itself one day? Because its weird it worked fine then just started doing this

Edit: Nvm my upload just went back to 100

We have the bell 1Gb package, and like last week it was running at 900 down 500 up on all devices, now all devices on wired still get it but my pc seems to only have the download, while the upload is suffering severely

KILLER Networking and Smart Byte are also Kiling you.

Are you using wired or wireless?

I recommend this for clients with Killer networking problems

Along with Tri Band Wave 2 Nighthawk

I'm on wired, and I can't seem to find anything related to smart byte on my PC

I can stil read your MAC ADDRESSS IN THE Interface List.

Going to ask moderator to delete your message.

Otherwise for IP6 it looks ok.

yeah i forgot to cover that, but the issue is still persisting, it only runs normal while in safe mode, tried booting in normal boot with all non microsoft services disabled and even that didn't fix it, so im' guessing its a windows error?

@RoHe so I tried that, and that made no difference, I re updated my bios with no luck either. So I think I may just bite the bullet and buy an Intel PCIe Ethernet, the PC has a slot for it so I may as well.

Even tech support was stumped, and it was either $130 for software support or $35 for the card. So I opted for the card. Thank you for trying to help! I think it’s just the killer drivers not getting along with windows 10(I even updated to Version 2009)

@xAutobot  I hope the PCI-e Ethernet card solves the problem. Be sure to disable the Killer 2400E Ethernet in Device Manager. Post back and let us know what happens with the card...

BTW: Have you run sfc /scannow recently? Open a CMD prompt window, Run as administrator and type in that command (put one space between sfc and /scannow) and hit Enter. Note any messages when it's done...

@RoHeI have done that, and it showed there were no issues. And will do! To me it seems like the killer drivers don't like the newer versions of windows, so this should fix it!

You might go to the Killer site and download the Killer uninstaller and run that. Then install the latest version of Killer Control Center which should include the latest drivers. NOTE: You have to uninstall the currently installed version first, and not just install the new version "on top" of the old one.

And if that doesn't help, run the Killer Diagnostics.

Disable onboard and get USB2 to Gigabit ethernet.

https://plugable.com/products/usb2-e1000/

DO NOT use a PCI-E network card this introduces more problems than it solves.

Your video card shares bandwidth with the PCI-E bus.

USB2 is preferred over USB3 for compatibility reasons aka its driverless.

You plug it in and it works,

that definitely solved my problem, but why dell are pushing all these services to the devices?

Hi,

On my Dell XPS8930, I ran into that issue last night and only solved it today. I had to go into the Killer Intelligence Center, and turn off the 'Prioritization Engine', from the main page, and voila, my uploads went back to their maximum.
Download speeds were always at the max. I had done a reboot of the access point, even though my system is connected through Ethernet, did a Windows Winsock reset, with a system restart (I have fast shutdown/fast start disabled),and these did not help. I also went through the process of replacing all of my ethernet cables with no success.
The defeating of the Prioritization engine switch on the Killer Intelligence Center did the trick for me.

Give it a shot and see what happens. You have nothing to lose!

Removing the Killer apps fixed it for me. Thank you.
