As suggested by many in this forum, you need not remove or install the program. The program helps to open files faster and by removing it, you are losing a feature that you paid for. Go to Add/Remove programs , find the Intel Optane Pinning Extension program, and right click on it. From the available options, choose "Repair." Once it is run, your problem should have been solved. Reboot and check a file in the Explorer.

From an absolute rookie when it comes to stuff like IT, this advice worked! I wasted a fair bit of time trying to get to speak with someone at Dell this morning
I then got brave and decided to try to resolve myselg, found this page and followed this advice - worked!!!!!!! Thank you so much for giving me the rest of my working day back!

Yes, this is what worked for me. You can also go to Control Panel\Programs and Features. Scroll down the list to find the Intel Optane Pinning Explorer Extensions. Click on it and, at the top, click on Repair...or right click and select Repair.

I just fixed this by going to Control Panel, Programs, Programs and Features, and right-clicked on Intel Optane Pinning Explorer Extensions and clicked on "Repair". I didn't need to reboot.

Running "Modify" & "Repair" on the "Intel Optane Pinning Explorer Extensions" entry followed by a reboot worked for me. Before rebooting I checked the C:\Program Files\Intel\OptaneShellExtensions directory and noticed the iaStorAfsServiceApi.dll file was now there. Before running "Modify" & "Repair" it was missing.

I tried many normal kinds of fixes which didn't work (with help from Dell tech support). This worked right away! Thanks a lot.
