XPS 13 Screen Goes Dim When Adjusting Lid

I have a 2.5 year old XPS 13, and when I am opening the lid the screen flickers and often goes so dim I can barely see what is on it. This used to resolve itself if I just wiggled the screen, but now the display goes dim if I open the lid more than 90 degrees. I called support, and they told me I would need to pay to have a technician come to me and replace the screen. Just wanted to check that this is my only/best option before I spend the money. Thank you!

By what you have described it does sound like the display cable connecting the monitor to the motherboard could be bad (a hardware issue that could only be fixed with a servicing). A screen replacement might not be necessary, only a replacement of the cable which connects the screen to the motherboard (but this would have to be determined by the service).

I think I am having a similar issue with my XPS 13 9300 model. Item is just over 2 years old. I dont use it heavily or maybe few times a month. I noticed my device lid dims to almost like 5% brightness when I open the lid. I notice, the display is fully lit when the lid is only partially open. Seems like a loose contact, or could it be something else?

Dell sent a mechanic to me to replace the screen, and that fixed the problem (it also fixed my webcam, which had stopped working). Not sure whether it was an entire screen issue or the refixing of the contact that fixed the problem. Hope that is somewhat helpful.

Now that I see a solution has been accepted, make sure to mention me (@ sign and then my username) if another issue comes about. Thanks

I have a similar problem. The screen goes extremely dim when the lid is roughly below 90 degrees open. If I open it more it works perfectly fine, but it is very annoying and I'm worried it will get worse with time.
