Hello, I have an 8400, running XP, and have two audio devices, one is sound max digital audio, and the other is sb audigty audio 2(C8C0).  As far as I know they came both on the computer.   My sound used to work as of about a week ago, and then nothing.  It started with a failed windows update, I then restored to the previous day and all was well, then a couple of days later nothing no sound at all!  I've rechecked the plugs, and power and fuses for the speakers, I have the 5.1 set up with the sub woofer.  When I power downthe computer I here my speakers click off to power down, and when they power up I hear them click on.  I have tried downloading the drivers from dell, and Creative, to no avile, and then after some checking I made sure to set to enable in bios,and it was, and then I ran the DXdiag, and it gave me this error : DirectSound Test Results : Failure at step 19 (user verification software) : HRE SULT = OXOOOOOOOO(error code)  Of course my warranty expired early last year!!!  Any help would appreciated, if I need to give more info please let me, please be specific of what I might need, and where to get for you!  Thanks a million!
