I purchased an XPS 420 with a Raid 1 array about one year ago.  Recently I have been receiving a volume degraded message.  I rebuilt the volume each time, but within 24 to 48 hours it degrades again.  Both drives check out as being okay.  Tech support advises that it will be necessary to revert back to the original factory settings, requiring reinstallation of all software, which I was trying to avoid when I went with the Raid configuration in the first place.  I am having a hard time destroying a perfectly functioning drive under these circumstances.  Does anyone know if continuing to use the drive places it more at risk than a single drive configuration.  If starting over is the only solution every time there is a Raid problem, I think the extra 300GB would be better used as a usable second drive.  Anyone had to deal with this?  Suggestions appreciated.
