Hi, i have a 2 year old Dell Inspiron 6400. The thing is that 2 weeks ago the LCD started showing the graphics "glitched" nothing big, just some extra lines here and there. it lasted 1 day. After that i got blank screen when booting, sometimes it worked but most times it was blank (even dell startup, bios and that pre-S.O. stuff). Next day the screen is gone, but Windows (XP) runs normal and i can see the desktop and use programs (Office, Firefox, Explorer) using an external monitor. The thing is that when i try to enter any game for 1 second i can see the initial screen all glitched with extra lines and so, and the next second i get a Windows blue screen showing the message: "NMI: Parity Check / Memory Parity Error". Also, when using an external functional monitor, the image is still bad, like when watching videos there are extra lines and so on.

Oh BTW i havent installed any drivers, or specific software so i think is a HW problem. My guess is that the memory banks of the RAM or maybe from the video card are not working properly. Maybe its the video card thats why i see those extra lines and glitched graphics and the machine crashes everytime i load a game (relies heavily on graphics), but if thats the case, could it also affect the bios screens? That bios screen is also glitched (using an external working monitor, cause the laptop screen is not working anymore).

My warranty is long gone so i plan to take out manually the dedicated video card so i can try to see what happens with the integrated one, but its just a little too complex for me, i can handle desktops but this is a little scary. Oh, i tried switching my 2 ram modules from 1 slot to the next but got no luck with that. Have any of you come with a similar problem? can you help me and give me some advice?

Processor: Dual Core T2040 (or T2080 cant remember well)

Memory: 1GB PC6400 DDR2 (2 x 512 MB)

Video: ATI Radeon Mobility X1300 (or x1400 cant tell)
