220S Cluster Setup trouble
I am trying to get a cluster setup with two 1750 servers with matching PERC 4/Di controllers, Win2K advanced server. Have set the enclosure to cluster mode, have all my drives configured, and can read and write to the 220S from each server, still with only one server powered up at a time. Have updated EMM firmare to E.17.
However, each time I try to run cluster setup on Node1 (which is connected to the primary EMM, node 2 is on secondary, and turned off), I am told that windows cannot detect a shared disk.
From reading between the lines (which one has to do, as the DELL setup and user guide info is really incomplete when it comes to providing guidance on clustered setup, not to mention that the readme that comes with it does not even list the 1750 as a supported system,, and then you read the fine print and see that this document was written in 2001, which i suspect was prior to the commercialization of the 1750, anyway, I digress) it seems that I need to somehow set the two servers/cards to use different SCSI ID numbers, and perhaps somehow also configure their BIOS setup to let them know they are in clustered config.
When viewing the properties of the 220S Channel 1 (which is the enclosure) from either server (again, with only one booted up at a time), the Intiator id is 7, and the Enclosure ID is 15.
Going into the BIOS setup, though, there is no sign of a setting for a cluster config, and trying to change the initiator ID from 7 is impossible.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.. thanks!
Fred
