Dell Venue Pro Order
Hi Dell,
Essentially, my problem is that I want to order a Dell Venue Pro, or at least receive some sort of confirmation, order number, ID of some sort that shows that I actually did get an order through for my son.
The problems I have gone through so far:
- Ordering through the website. I have had various errors occur in the process of activation since before December 12th. Mainly, the T-mobile credit check error. Recently, however, I have been encountering an error where the activation site tells me that I already have a T-mobile account, and that I should use my existing account. After directing me back to the beginning of the activation process, I have entered in my number (which is currently a Prepaid number and not on a plan) and gone back through entering everything. However, this time I receive an error for not being 18 years of age, even though my birthday is entered in as 06/27/1957. Furthermore, this error is a different error than when you actually enter in a birthday of less than 18 years of age, (I entered in my son's information to try to get the phone, but he was not 18 yet).
- Ordering by calling. When I attempted to call Dell to figure out this problem, they instead just sent me--after an hour of calling--to order the phone. However, they were obviously just using the same system as the one on the website, which I have already addressed, and thus, they received the same error. During the call, your customer service was completely clueless about the Dell Venue Pro which is quite disappointing frankly as it seems as though you are not even interested in selling this phone, (which in my opinion would be a very high quality, good selling phone, if not for these problems).
- Next, I was directed to call T-mobile, who of course were even more clueless to your Dell Venue Pro. I was again just directed back to Dell.
- Later that night (December 12th, 2010), I received a call from Dell who said they had figured everything out. They then transferred the call to T-mobile, who approved my credit for 10 phones and said that the phone would be activated and shipped. Of course, this seemed to be a lie. I received no phone, no bill, no email, no confirmation of any sort, all the time expecting to receive one in time for Christmas.
- After Christmas, it seemed likely that I was not receiving the phone (since everyone who ordered before December 14th was supposed to receive it before Christmas), so I called Dell again. There was no sign that an order had ever been made. I even checked with them by giving my phone number, but I had no order. Therefore, I attempted to order the phone again. Like usual, the website was not working. I tried both me and my wife's information to order, and to no avail. Again, I received a call later that day. This time it was only Dell (no transfer to T-mobile) and they again said that they would order the phone. This time, I tried to get an order number so that I would be certain of the order, unlike the first December 12th attempt. I received a set of numbers from the CS so I thought everything had worked out. But no. The numbers they gave me didn't correspond to anything on the Dell website, not an order number, not an customer ID, nothing. I was getting quite frustrated at this point.
- I received another call later that same day. This time it was a call for my wife (since I had attempted to use her information to order the phone too) so of course I didn't order another phone. However, I asked the representative about the number. He informed me that it was a fake number, (great Dell, giving me fake numbers) and that I would receive an email with an order confirmation when the phone shipped. I made sure he had my email and phone number and address and was again hopeful. However, it has already passed the estimated shipping date from back then 1/4/2011, and the estimated shipping date on the website now is only two days from today. Again, I checked with my phone number and billing address for any order status at all, and there was nothing.
I assume that Dell will never be putting this order in. However, the website still does not work (you would think it would work after a month of not working).
So, can someone please explain to me how I am supposed to order this phone?
If not, I shall be taking my business elsewhere, for I have little patience remaining to get a good quality product, especially with all the posts of malfunctioning Dell Venue Pro's on this forum. I hope that Dell soon learns that without quality products, and helpful, informative customer service, they will easily be beaten out by the competitive companies of this business.
Thanks,
Frank Zhao
