my wife's laptop is having an issue with a power button, it works sometimes. When you press the button, it doesn't turn on immediately. You have to press it several times, or wait, and try again. I tried removing the battery, hoping that this is a battery issue but it does not make any difference. When it turns on, it stays on, and it works normally. Last few times, it's been turned on and the lights in the keyboard will flash, and it will make what I would call a system beep sound, but then if you retry, it works just fine. To make things worse, the warranty expired on 05/25 and they want us to either renew or extend the warranty and I don't even know if this is going to cover it. She didn't get any emails that this warranty was about to expire, but at this point, we just want to get the laptop running again. The issue is really difficult to reproduce. For example, you close the lid, and when you open the laptop again, it does not power on, or it may power on in the first time, or it may turn on after trying to push the power button at least 10 times. It is clear to me that the switch is not working as expected, but if the switch was broken, why is it sometimes working? is this something that someone ran into? any recommended troubleshooting steps? should we extend the warranty? does that warranty cover that? I just don't see the point of extending it, and then it will not be covered by it. unfortunately it is not a very reliable computer at this point. if someone ran into a similar issue and can provide any pointers on it, it will be great.
