Dear All ,

I am new with EMC Storage. I have taken up the task of addition of DAE with existing 5300 .

I have did my research for the same and below is my current action plan. There are few points which I would be glad to get clarified.

Currently review and guide me if any changes needs to be made in the plan.

-> Accessing the Controller via SP IP.

=> Can we do the addition of DAE from this console or do we have to install or launch Unisphere Service Manager in one of the machines in the network and then connect the controller though this application.

->After accessing the correct console , then go to the hardware option and add hardware and follow the instructions in GUI and power on the DAE when instructed.

=> Will these steps complete the addition of DAE to the existing storage. Can we proceed further by creating storage pools and assigning luns to hosts.

-> When it comes to upgrade , how can we upgarde the firmware of the controller. Can this be executed by the USM GUI too ?

Can this be done online where the groups will be migrated automatically internally and what if the update fails.

-> Can we perform the disk driver upgrade from the GUI and what is the risk involved.

-> The current setup is block storage and the current software version is  .05.32.000.5.201

Can the block version updgrade too be done from the same GUI and what will be the correct order to be followed if I am planning to do all the three? Do we have to download the updates and upload it to USM or will it take Automatically from internet.

-> All these luns are assigned for the VMs in VMWare.

-> THe setup consists of a Brocade SAN Switch , do we need to make any changes in the switch upon the installation of dae to be accessible in the network.
