Got a machine that needs BMR protection of the OS drive, but can't tolerate the performance impact of VMware snapshots, hence any type of VADP image-based backup isn't an option. 

Any reason why the Avamar DR restore process for Windows 2008 wouldn't work inside a VMware VM?  The Avamar for Windows Guide says it isn't supported for Hyper-V servers, but nothing about VMware.
