Display drivers, Windows 98SE
I bought a Dimension, complete with XP Home. I don't really need XP, so the plan was to dual boot with Win98. This requires removal of XP, installation of Win98, then installation of XP.
So I reformatted the hard disk, and set up the partitions that I want. Despite loading Win98 without error, I cannot find a display driver for the E176FP monitor that will run with Win98. Nowhere. Dell support are not able to help either. Has ANYONE found such a piece of software?
Meanwhile, in desperation, I installed an old Diamond Multimedia internal adaptor card (PCI, proven with Win98), thinking I could by-pass the on-board video hardware on the Dimension. Once again - a brick wall. Just cannot get this Diamond card to function.
It seems to me that Dell have so tied up this PC with Windows XP, that it becomes a major task to get rid of this OS! Has anyone been down this route with better success than myself?
Thanks for any advices...
