I am having problems with my partitions with my 4100. I have spent 2-3 hrs wth Tech Support and they say it is working fine, but I am not convinced that it is. A while ago, I formatted my hard drive to clean it up because my computer was running slow. I use Ad-Aware and Norton SystemWorks and keep both up-to-date and use each scan once a week. I decided to create 20-gig and 10-gig partitions on my 30-gig HD. I did this through Windows Setup when booting from CD. Windows XP Pro was put on the 20-gig and the 10-gig was for backup and storage purposes. My computer started acting up about 6 months later, so I booted from the CD to format the 20-gig partition and reinstall Windows. But when the CD loaded, it said I only had a 30-gig partition. So I had to find an area to back up my 8-gig worth of information from my 2nd partiton so I could format the whole HD. Again I created the 2 partitions, and now that I am done with school for the quarter, I decided to check and see if it was still working properly. When I booted from the CD, it once again says I have 1 30-gig partition. :smileymad: Why does MyComputer say I have a C: of 20-gig and a D: of 10-gig and they seem to work fine, but when I boot from the Windows CD it says I have only a 30-gig partition? How can I only format the 20-gig partition and reinstall Windows XP on that while not touching the information and data on the 10-gig partition? Or is my harddrive going bad like I suspect it is. Dell Tech Support says this is normal behavior because my HD is 30-gig and booting from the CD will only show one full-size partition and not 2 smaller partitions even though I created them from the CD.
