Un-Inspired 6000 - CD/DVD Drive Problems
Need help with a brand new Inspiron 6000 laptop... about 4 weeks old and barely used... CD drive will run DVD (with sound), burn data and open some data CDs.
For some reason it will not read CDs burnt on my desktop PC... although the same CDs can be read on a friend's older laptop...
I have restored back to original settings, run all the diagnostic checks (with the diagnostic disk) and reset everything
The Inspiron 6000 CD is a Philips CDRW/DVD CDD 5263 and the desktop CD is a Gateway HL-DT-ST
GCE-8160B
I can't believe I am jumping through these hoops to get this thing running since I rely on jumpdrives to move data... the problem comes in when someone hands me a cd that I can't read...
Any suggestions and will Dell make this right if I can't fix it? It sure seems that they are having problems with their CD burners...
