On my XPS Gen 2 desktop my Windows XP Pro has gotten rather "buggy" through the years.  At random times I am getting lockups with my mouse and keyboard, "Ctrl Alt Esc" does not work then and I have to do a hard shutdown.  After startup I get then often (not always!!!!) the BSOD with "stop 0x0000008E, etc. message), etc.  Restoring to an earlier date is no longer functional.  So after reading the June 2008 PCWorld, I decided it was time to clean house after 4 years of using XP.  I backed everything up on my trusty SimpleTech external hard drive and proceeded to reinstall a totally clean copy of XP.  Now somehow I ended up with my "old" XP OS on the C drive (SATA RAID 0 with dual 160 GB HDs) and the "new" XP OS on the D drive (80 GB Ultra ATA/100 HD).  I did follow the instructions supplied with my computer, but they did not show every step and somewhere along the line I apparently "messed up" rather royally.  I am just an amateur in this business.   I am looking for help to get rid of the second XP Pro OS on my D drive (it will not let me delete it) and some good guidance on replacing or repairing my "buggy" ("old" XP Pro OS) on my C drive.  I probably want to reinstall the XP OS rather than repairing it, so that I have a complete new setup without any old remnants.
