I've had this E1705 laptop for close to 2 years and one problem still remains ... I CAN'T TURN THIS MACHINE OFF! 

 

Because of other problems, I did a factory restoration last year and then I did a clean reinstallation about a month ago.  Although I was able to solve some of my other problems, the ability to power down continues to be a problem. 

 

Occasionally it will shut down correctly but about 75% of the time I have to hold down the power button to turn it off.

 

Oh yeah, I also tried the Vista power "gadget" on my desktop ... that also doesn't work. 

 

After the clean reinstallation, I downloaded SP1 ... still no help.
