Mouse pointer out of alignment
I just picked up an XPS 420 with an ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT(256MB PCI-Express x16 (Dual DVI) RV630). I'm running that into two Samsung SyncMaster 245bw monitors using DVI connections. I'm also running Vista with the Aero theme.
The problem is my mouse pointer is offset when trying to resize or navigate a windows based menu. Some examples can be seen at:

I've tried uninstalling drivers, restarting, re-installing drivers and that didn't help. Tried installing different mice... same problem.
When I went back to the classic theme, the problem was much less. Also when I use "remote desktop" from my laptop... the problem doesn't exist at all. This leads me to believe it's some kind of combination of the video card and Vista. I have the latest graphics card driver... so was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

Interesting... I did some searching and only found one guy who mentioned something like this, but didn't mention what computer he was using. I should also mention on the resizing that even though the cursor is way offset to the right, on click it snaps to the correct location. I have to assume this is an ATI problem, but couldn't find anything on their site. I opened a support ticked on their site, but never heard back... what a shock :-|- Well, I just spent 30 minutes with a Dell tech troubleshooting this problem remotely. Since it appears to be an issue with the video card, he installed the latest version of the drivers from Dell's website. After a quick reboot, the problem went away.
So, the solution appears to be, you need to uninstall the current drivers, and then install the latest from Dell's website. The drivers installed from the factory are already out of date.

Jack,I have essentially the same system with the same problem. I downloaded the newest driver and it went away.Grahamacmedigital

Well... I updated the driver and it works! No more mouse mis-alignment. Unfortunately, now from time to time I go from two monitors to one and the resolution changes to 600 x 800. To make matters worse, the catalyst control center won't launch so the only way to solve the problem is a reboot... so not sure I'm thrilled with this particular "fix". One of the potential problems is that when I went to download the driver, there were two exact same titles that applied to my driver, but the files were named R170619.exe and R170181.exe so I'm not sure which one is right... I tried 619... I ended up with that problem... then I tried 181, but that didn't fix it either.

Just go to Dell.com and select the "Drivers and Downloads" option. When you enter your service tag, it will show you a plethora of updated drivers for your system.You don't need to uninstall the original driver.Grahamacmedigital

I would recommend un-installing the original software and driver first. I did a straight upgrade, and suddenly my two monitors only worked on one and the resolution was stuck at 800 x 600 and the Catalyst Center software stopped working so I had to reboot to get my resolution back. When I uninstalled all the ATI software, and re-installed, it worked fine after that. It's also confusing because there are two downloads that are labeled exactly the same, but have different filenames. I just went with the highest filename number figuring that was how they versioned.
