Vostro 260, BIOS update
Hi everyone,
I have a Vostro 260 on BIOS A10. Motherboard is Dell 0DGDG8Y.
Yesterday I attempted upgrading from a Pentium dual-core CPU to an i5-3470 quad-core. The end result was system failing to boot up. Just a brief couple of seconds of system powering up, fans spinning, then auto power off, then restarts to do the same thing over and over again, until I pull the plug. So I decided, after CMOS reset did no difference, to switch back to my original CPU, and system booted up fine.
I began investigating and feel my current BIOS version just isn't registering the new processor (BIOS version A10 04.06.04). I did a scan for updates via the Dell site, and it determines that I have the most recent version of BIOS. So my next idea is perhaps upgrading to A11.
However, I am concerned about whether my motherboard will take A11 or not. I'd appreciate your advice on this matter please.
Thanks!
