hey there, dont know if this will work for everyone, but like many i was having near total system failure after installing sp2 (actually, my system was henkie b4 too, which is why i tried installing sp2 hoping it would solve...anywho) pro. well, after trying many of the posted fixes for getting sp2 off your system i was finally able to do so running the spuninstall while in directory services restore mode.... maybe this was posted several other places, but i didnt see it if it was.

...ill also give a description of how my system was behaving b4 and after sp2 install so maybe that this will stand out to the people having the most similar types of problems... im sorry if this sounds like it was written by a retard, i am, but this solve was a big relief after a great deal of frustration so i thought id throw it out there anyhow...

... basically, my impetous for installing sp2 was that my system was behaving like it had contracted so sort of superannoying virus although my virus software wasnt showing anything. im running xp pro, which i actually did buy ( that and quake3 being the only software ive ever actually paid for i think, hehe) anyhow, my system was being the most annoying ever, reinstalling wouldnt run... start>run wouldnt run, the only thing i could do to was trying to burn everything off my harddrive that i wanted not to lose which was really annoying cuz i had about 50 gigs of stuff to transfer and although nero was working, it was running really slow also, so each burn took like a half hour to do... every time i tried running spuninstall in regular mode or safe mode, it would just hang... finally i tried directory services restore mode which seemed to run alot smoother than any other mode... im actually still running in it because i have yet to do any next step troubleshooting beyond getting sp2 to uninstall... oh yeah, i know trying to install sp2 in the first place to fix windows was stupid but oh well....
