Error burning Double Layer DVD's with tsstcorp dvd+-rw ts-h653b

I am having problems burning a DVD+R DL with my Dell Inspiron Desktop 530S, running Win7 32bit.  DVD hardware is:

PK643 Assembly, DVD+/-RW..., 16X, Bare Toshiba Samsung Storage Technology

Not sure if this DVD burner supports buring DL DVD's or not, if so, what could be causeing the problem.  I've tried 3 different blank DVDs, I've also tried burning with ImgBurn product as well as Win7's "Burn Disc Image" feature?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Ryan,

Can you tell me exactly where things appear to go wrong? Also what kind of media are you using?

Thanks for your help and sorry for the delay, I was away on vacation.

As for media, i'm using:  Memorex DVD+Rdl  8x  8.5GB  240min

I've tried "Burn Disc Image" using the Win7 feature (right click the .iso filename from Windows Explorer)
Click on Burn
It seems to get through the writting process then it starts to verify and craps out (with 75% complete)

Unfortunately, the 0xC0AA0301 error is not too helpful. Yes, this drive does support DL discs.

Have you had any trouble at all burning single layer? Is your ISO file too big for a single layer disc?

Two suggestions. First, I'm sour on Memorex media, all of which is made by third-party manufacturers. There is no way to tell until you get it home what you've got and a lot of it is junk. Even with good quality media, double layer burning can be problematic.

Second, here is a firmware update from Dell's support site. That may improve reliability for DL burning.

Thank you osprey4 for your quick response.  Is there media you prefer?  Also thank you for the firmware update.  I'll try both.

I've got ideas and links in Osprey's Toolbox (link below). Take a look and good luck!

I have not had any problems burning single layer dvds.  I believe the disc media is large enough for the iso that I am burning.

Thank you Osprey4, the suggestions on your site (specifically the DVD Media brand) made all the difference in the world.  I'm now able to burn my DVDs.  THANK YOU.
