Error code 0142 hard drove failure
My Inspiron15 3000 was restarted and would not boot past dell logo screen (working fine but a bit slow before restart), ran the pre-boot assessment and its showing me error 0142, hard drive failure. I entered my service tag, still under warranty, can't seem to get past that step to find out about a replacement HDD. It just keeps running me in circles. Not too happy with a hardware failure on a barely used system. Would not have went with this laptop if I had seen before how common this issue was.
Anyone else having this issue? And how did you get it resolved; replacement dell HDD or different one? Does warranty cover full cost of exact replacement? Will I have to purchase Windows 8 after installation of new HDD being that it was preinstalled on the original one?

As you have a Dell warranty in effect, best to contact Dell's Technical Support for the replacement hard drive, have the laptop's Service Tag handy, prior to calling.
http://www.dell.com/support/incidents/us/en/19/Phone/Phonetagentry
Enter your Service Tag.
