Inspiron 17 won't boot - hard drive not installed message

Hello. I have an Inspiron 7548 that will not boot. I have run the ePSA diagnostics and the resulting error message is 2000:0155. I can't find a validation code. The laptop was shipped in October last year so is still under warrant so I'm not inclined to start taking it apart. Any ideas please?

Thanks in anticipation

Dean

Hi Nitwit2,

Welcome to the Dell Community Forum,

Thank you for performing the diagnostics on your computer. If you don’t have a hard disk drive (HDD), this may be an automatic message and requires no action.

If you have an HDD, reconnect your hard disk drive (HDD) to the system board. (See your service manual for instructions.)

Update to the latest BIOS by clicking here http://dell.to/1hcxG98, type the Service Tag and click on BIOS

Repeat the ePSA diagnostics and let us know the results.

Thanks for replying. First of all, my apologies for not responding sooner but I was away over the weekend without access to the internet. Second, I mistyped the series. I have a 17" 5748 rather than a 7548. Third, surely I will invalidate the warranty if I open the case. Is there a certified technician in the vicinity of Sidmouth, Devon, UK who could do the necessary work under the terms of the warranty without cost to me?

Thanks again.

Hi Nitwit2,

Thank you for your response, as the hard drive is a customer replaceable unit and as mentioned on the previous provided link you can find the details under manuals to remove and replace them which shall fix the issue on your computer. Kindly try the previous mentioned steps and respond to us with the system status here.
