Help!!!!!

I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I need some help.  My computer has been running slow, so I went to the Dell website and followed instructions on doing a diagnostic setup.  I went to start up, clicked Run, typed msconfig, and chose diagnostic start up.  The problem is that it has completely messed up my computer.  I went back into msconfig and chose normal start up, but everything that I had on my computer is no longer active, I keep getting messages to run install disks, system restore has no restore points, Norton will not run because it says it is not activated, and there are now hardware and other programs that I deleted a long time ago showing up again.  Also, to icons on the task bar (i.e. the clock) are in a different font and everything is white.  It seems like I wiped out my harddrive or something.  Is there any way to get my computer back to the settings I had before doing the diagnostic start up.  I'm afraid I ruined my computer!!!
