Networker backups do not reset archive bit

We have started doing NDMP backups on a new Isilon unit using Networker 7.6.5. That version of Networker correctly resets the archive bit on our Celerra NAS backups. However, it always does full backups on the Isilon SMB shares as well as the NFS exports, even though the level it set to 1.

I suspect this is not a problem with Networker, but instead some quirk of the security settings in Isilon. Has anyone run into this and, if so, how did you fix it? I will open a similar question in the Networker community just to cover all bases.

I guess one question is in what security context do NDMP backups operate and how is that determined? Does the NDMP process run with read-only and is unable to modify the archive bits of files? I don't see any such settings in the GUI and it seems it would not make much sense, since archive bit settings are how incremental or level backups are determined.

Thanks in advance for any info.
