I have found similar postings before, but no final solution could be found on this board.

I used Dell serial cable MN657 to connect to either controller 1 or 2 on the 3600i. Using 115200-8-n-1 on Putty, I was able to pull up ""Press within 5 seconds: for Service Interface, for baud rate" after hitting  .

Here my troubles begin: When I hit (capital S), nothing happens. The Service Interface does not start. After maybe 20 mins, the terminal stated " (tNetTask): NOTE: eth0: LinkUp event". 

If i try within 5 seconds, the terminal would show "expired". 

In essence, the controller serial port is not accepting any input after the initial "5 seconds" prompt.

Any suggestions? 

I have gone through all the manuals, and am not able to find anything referring to this.
