    På denne session vil du møde Professor Ole Lund fra DTU's Center for Genomisk Epidemiologi (CGE) fortælle, hvordan de har arbejdet de sidste 6 år med at udvikle et system til overvågning og diagnostik af infektionssygdomme.

    Modstand mod de nuværende antibiotika udvikles i et alarmerende tempo, og ca. 700.000 personer dør om året pga. resistente infektioner; dette tal skønnes at stige til 10 millioner om året i 2050. Ved hurtig genomisk analyse af epidemi-bakterier og sammenligning med kendte epidemi-bakterier i de globale genomiske databaser vil man i fremtiden langt hurtigere kunne spotte farlige udbrud. Dette kræver dog enorme computer- og dataressourcer! Kom og hør hvordan DTU arbejder med store datamængder og hvordan Big Data kan være med til at begrænse spredning af epidemier.
