Industry collaboration

The Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) is a non-profit organization with a common goal to use shared standards and tools to advance social, ethical, and environmental responsibility in the global electronics supply chain. As a member of RBA – alongside other leading electronics companies – we commit to the responsible business standards of the RBA Code of Conduct. This is part of Dell’s Code of Conduct and Supplier Principles. The RBA code is aligned with internationally recognized frameworks, such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and International Labor Organization (ILO) standards. We ask our suppliers to abide by the RBA Code of Conduct and our Supplier Principles as a condition of doing business with Dell.

Driving greater levels of transparency in our supply chain

We report regularly and ensure that data is understandable and comparable. In addition we ask our suppliers to publish their own Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)-based sustainability reports. Links to our suppliers’ GRI reports can be found in our public supplier list. We also expect suppliers to report annually via the CDP Supply Chain Climate and Water programs.

Responsible Business Alliance’s (RBA) Code of Conduct

The Responsible Business Alliance’s (RBA) Code of Conduct governs expectations for suppliers across our industry and we supplement this with Dell’s own Code of Conduct and additional policies and expectations. These include:

Supplier Principles >
Dell Human Rights Policy >
Dell Vulnerable Worker Policy >
Responsible Sourcing Policy >
Guidelines for Management of Manufacturing Process Chemicals >
Statement Against Modern Slavery, Human Trafficking, and Child Labor >

Sharing our list of global suppliers

We have one of the world’s largest supply chains, but its size and complexity doesn’t prohibit us from sharing the suppliers who help make our products.

Holistic and comprehensive approach

Most suppliers provide inputs to multiple products and sometimes multiple suppliers are qualified for a single component. As production levels around the world shift daily, supplier volumes also shift to meet demand, altering the mix of suppliers used for a specific product. Focusing solely on the last facility that a product left before it entered our customers’ homes or businesses would limit our visibility to many of the businesses and people around the world who manufactured that product. That’s why we take a holistic and comprehensive approach across our supply base.

Our supplier lists

Within Dell’s Public Supplier List you will find two lists. One catalogs our final assembly and original design manufacturers (ODMs) showing which products are produced at each of these sites. The second list includes other direct material suppliers and shows their products' procurement categories. In both, the GRI column indicates whether they have produced a GRI-based sustainability report.
