Bringing Order to Your Data Estate
The upcoming release of PowerScale software brings capabilities to streamline bucket and object data management while strengthening operations in Amazon S3 environments. With the addition of S3 Object Lock WORM, users can secure data immutability, protecting it from accidental deletions and modifications, as well as ransomware threats. Enhanced features, like S3 bucket logging and protocol access logging, provide storage administrators deeper insight into access patterns, enabling proactive governance and improved security at the storage layer. Additionally, for industries such as finance, healthcare, energy and government, the introduction of multi-party authorization creates an additional layer of defense against threats and accidental data loss while meeting stringent regulatory standards.
Cloud Agility and On-prem Control, Delivered
Dell PowerScale SmartSync software makes traditional and modern workload management easier through increased resiliency, enhanced S3 object data governance and simplified data mobility. Customers can now leverage the simplicity of S3 with PowerScale’s File-to-Object SmartSync capabilities to automate data replication directly to AWS, Wasabi or Dell ObjectScale for lower-cost back up storage, and can easily burst to the cloud using EC2 for compute-heavy applications.
Faster Object Means Faster Insights
S3 over RDMA drastically speeds up data transfers by pairing widely adopted S3 object storage with the high-speed, low-latency RDMA network protocol, accelerating real-time processing of large datasets while optimizing GPU utilization. And with the pre-announcement of S3 over RDMA support for ObjectScale, this is a game changer for faster AI deployments. We’ll leverage direct memory transfers to streamline data movement with minimal CPU involvement, making it ideal for scalable AI training and inference. With support for the NVIDIA CUDA Toolkit, CUDA-X libraries and NVIDIA GPUDirect storage, these innovations empower enterprises to unlock new possibilities in AI-driven analytics. In fact, internal testing shows that, in AI/ML workloads with high-concurrency data transfers, S3 over RDMA with ObjectScale achieves up to 230% higher throughput¹, 80% lower latency¹, and 98% reduced CPU load¹ compared to traditional S3.
Storage Built for the Largest Data Centers
Dell’s denser ObjectScale platform sets a new benchmark for efficiency and scalability in object storage – purpose-built on the latest PowerEdge technology. The new Dell PowerEdge R7725xd, featuring two AMD 5th Generation EPYC™ processors, offers the highest storage density NVMe configurations in the Dell PowerEdge portfolio (launching June 2025). This is enhanced by NVIDIA BlueField-3 DPUs and NVIDIA Spectrum-4 Ethernet switches and provides planned network connectivity of up to 800Gb per second. Designed for CSPs and the largest AI deployments, the new ObjectScale solution supports multi-petabyte scale, offering better data access, faster processing, and more accurate outcomes as workloads grow. The denser ObjectScale platform also makes storing and managing a data lake more efficient. With reduced physical infrastructure, customers will save on costs while easily handling larger datasets.
World’s Fastest Parallel File System with Project Lightning²
Project Lightning showcases unmatched performance, featuring the world’s fastest parallel file system and delivering up to 2x greater throughput than competing systems². Lightning is purpose-built for the largest AI deployments with tens of thousands of GPUs. Partners such as WWT and customers such as Cambridge University are active participants in its multi-phase customer validation program, which includes rigorous performance benchmarking, feature testing and education to drive product requirements and feedback into the product.
Additionally, we’re collaborating with NVIDIA to develop a high-performance inferencing solution that combines the power of Project Lightning, PowerScale, PowerEdge XE servers and NVIDIA KV-Cache. This initiative aims to optimize large-scale AI inferencing capabilities, unlocking new possibilities for data-driven innovation. Today, a technology preview integrates NVIDIA’s NIXL libraries and KV-cache to deliver a breakthrough solution for demanding AI inferencing workloads.
