Hello, this is Steve from Dell Networking. In this video we're going to create a new SmartFabric using two MX9116N switches in two different chassis. To do so perform the following steps. In the OpenManage Enterprise Modular web interface go to 'Devices' and then 'Fabric'. Click on 'Add Fabric. Give the fabric a name. In this video we'll select 'SmartFabric'.
Click 'Next', In the design type we will have several options, we'll have two MX9116N switches in the same chassis, two MX5108 switches in the same chassis or, in this video, we're going to select two MX9116 switches in different chassis.
Then we select the two chassis and their switches. First we'll select the first chassis and the switch in that chassis, and then we'll select the second chassis and it's MX9116 switch. Click 'Next'. Verify the interconnect links between the two MX9116 switches and click 'Finish'.
The switches will be converted from full switch mode to SmartFabric mode and reboot. This will take some time to complete, so we'll pause the video. We can now see that the SmartFabric is complete, however it is showing critical because there are no uplinks created yet.
We'll create the uplinks in another video but for now we can view the SmartFabric details by clicking on the 'SmartFabric' link and then 'Switches'. To see the two MX9116s used in this SmartFabric we can click on 'ISL Links' to see the interconnects that form the VLTI, or VLT Interconnect link, and we can click on 'Topology' to see a network diagram. In this video we created a SmartFabric using two MX9116n switches in two different chassis.
Thank you for choosing Dell.
