In this video, we demonstrate how to create and run device discovery rules to discover and add devices within an IP range. To begin, click Create rule in the Device management menu. Enter a name for the discovery rule. Select a credential profile for the devices in the IP range or create a new profile, if required. To discover devices using an IP range or a specific IP address, select the IP address/range option.
You can add up to five different IP address ranges in the following formats: To discover devices by entering multiple IP addresses or hostnames separated by comma, select the Individual hostname / IP address option. You can enter them in the following formats: In this video, we will discover devices using an IP address range. Click Add to add multiple ranges, if necessary.
Select the frequency in which secure connect gateway must run the rule. To run the rule later, you must select a specific date and time. To periodically run the rule, select the day, time, and interval. Enable the Perform deep discovery check box to discover devices associated with the primary devices. If necessary, clear the options to disable monitoring and automatic configuration of SNMP settings for the devices. Click Create rule.
Select the device types you want to discover using the credential profile and click Proceed. Based on the frequency selected, the rule is run immediately or later. You can track the progress in the Status column or click the rule to view more information about the discovery process. Note, during discovery, all the devices in the IP range are pinged.
A device is discovered and inventoried in secure connect gateway as and when the device responds to the ping. However, Preparing status is displayed until secure connect gateway pings all the devices in the IP range.
